Bangladesh level series with tight win
Ryder beaten into coma
Troubled New Zealand cricketer Jesse Ryder was in a critical condition
in hospital on Thursday after an “extremely vicious” attack as he left a
bar in Christchurch, police said.
The 28-year-old was in an induced coma with a fractured skull and serious internal injuries, and his family were at his bedside.
The attack in the South Island city came just days before the talented batsman was to take up a lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) contract.
Ryder has a history of disciplinary lapses and alcohol-related incidents, but although he had been drinking before the early morning assault, police said alcohol was not a factor.

De Villiers spl takes S Africa to series win
AB
de Villiers racked up his third half-century of the series, in which he also
scored a hundred, to guide South Africa to victory in their chase in Benoni
with six overs to spare, sealing a 3-2 win for the hosts. De Villiers put in
his best all-round performance in the decider, as he manned his chargers well
and anchored the chase, albeit a modest one, reports Cricinfo.
South Africa closed out the series largely due to Pakistan’s inability to do
the same, rather than being dominant.

said the decision was taken keeping in mind security concerns in Chennai.
“The security of all involved in the IPL, whether players, spectators or those

Tigers reach Kandy
With hopes
of squaring the one-day international series, the Bangladesh cricket team
reached Kandy yesterday to play the third and final game on March 28.
The must-win encounter is what the players’ focus is on, but in a bid to take their minds off it for a moment, the national team reached Kandy after a picturesque helicopter ride. The journey which allowed the visitors to witness some of the most

2nd ODI washed out Ban vs Sri
It seemed that Bangladesh’s month-long tour of Sri Lanka would witness a
rare happening, but tradition continued as rain ruled out the second
ODI at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium yesterday. One can’t imagine the
passage of a cricket series in Sri Lanka without any sort of rain
interruption, but for a while it seemed that there would be a break in
that tradition as rain did not play any part in the two Tests in Galle
and Colombo and the first ODI played here on Saturday. Rains were
predicted before the first Test at Galle and it did start raining
Another from Fulton
Black Caps opener Peter Fulton celebrated his recall from the cricket
scrapheap on Monday by becoming only the fourth New Zealander to score
back-to-back centuries in a Test.
The at times ungainly opener belted the prime of English bowling to all corners of the ground in a rollicking second innings 110 to give New Zealand a stranglehold on the third and deciding Test in the series.
At stumps on Monday, with one day to play, England were fighting for survival at 90 for four with a target of 481 to win.
Fulton, who toiled hard to resurrect New Zealand’s second innings after they were three down for eight, brought up his boundary-laden 110 in 165 balls.

Boult, Southee put NZ in command
AUCKLAND, Mar 24: A fine display of swing bowling from Trent Boult
may have struck the decisive blow for New Zealand in an encounter
against England full of twists and turns, reports Cricinfo.
Boult, the left-arm fast-medium bowler, claimed 6 for 68 - his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket - as England were dismissed for 204 in their first innings. That gave New Zealand a first innings lead of 239 but, eschewing the chance to enforce the follow-on, they extended their lead to 274 before stumps.
Those second innings runs came at quite a cost, though. New Zealand, perhaps suffering from acrophobia as they realised the dominance of their position, stumbled to 8 for 3

Shakib hopes to be back for Zim tour
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan spent the morning of his 26th birthday
yesterday in the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s National Cricket Academy
strictly adhering to his rehabilitation process.
After an hour-long gym session, the left-hander spoke to the media for the first time since last month’s operation in Sydney.
“I am working hard under the academy trainer (Stuart Karppinen). I hope to be fit before the series against Zimbabwe in April,” said Shakib. “As per the guidelines of the trainer, I began running yesterday and did not face any trouble. I still have not started bowling or batting,

Mountain to climb for injured Tigers
When Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim trudged back to the dressing
room after attending the presentation ceremony on Saturday night at the
Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, the little man looked like the unhappiest man
in the world. It was not only the comprehensive eight-wicket defeat in
the first ODI that brought about the forlorn look, but also the fact
that his team needs to pull of a surprise to save the series today as
one of his key weapons –Tamim Iqbal — has been ruled out of the series
due to a fractured right thumb.
When Bangladesh face Sri Lanka for the second of three ODIs at the same venue, Mushfiqur will face possibly his biggest challenge as captain because the team have never faced such a problem with injuries.

India clinched the Border-Gavaskar trophy with a 4-0 series
The
final day of the series, in Delhi, resembled one of those when a crazy
colourful storm from Rajasthan visits the capital. While the storm is there, it
is all encompassing, and promises apocalypse. Soon, though, it blows over, and
you can't tell it had been there. For about the first 200 minutes of the day,
it was mayhem: spiteful spin, altercations, posturing, surprises, send-offs and
some statesmanship. Twelve wickets fell for 170 runs, Nathan Lyon and Ravindra
Jadeja registered their personal
Tamim out of ODIs
Bangladesh’s walking wounded grew with the news that
dashing opener Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the remaining two
one-dayers against Sri Lanka after suffering a hairline fracture on his
right thumb.The injury
occurred while he was fielding at point in the eighth over of the first
one-dayer in Hambantota on Saturday.
Tamim (112), who hit his country's
first one-day century against Sri Lanka, went to hospital for an X-ray
afterwards and was told he had a hairline fracture.

History of bangladesh cricket...।
In 1977, Bangladesh became an Associate member of the International Cricket
Council (ICC). Bangladesh was one of fifteen teams to take part in the
inaugural ICC Trophy. Held in 1979, it gave non-Test playing countries the
opportunity to qualify for that year's World Cup. Bangladesh, under the
captaincy of Raqibul Hasan, Bangladesh won two matches and lost two, but failed
to progress beyond the first round.Victory in the South-East Asian Cricket
Conference Tournament in February 1984 ensured Bangladesh qualified for the 1986
Asia Cup. On 31 March 1986, Bangladesh played their first One Day International
against a full member of the ICC; Captained by Gazi Ashraf, Bangladesh were
dismissed for 94 and Pakistan reached their target for victory with seven
wickets in hand.

Mushfiqur double-ton takes Bangladesh to record total
The records stacked up and so did the individual milestones. After the captain Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladesh batsman to score a double-century, Nasir Hossain brought up his maiden century to help Bangladesh pass their previous highest Test score of 556, ending with 638. Bangladesh finished with a lead of 68, also taking a psychological advantage against tired Sri Lankan outfit unaccustomed to spending so much time in the field in their favourite home venue. With four sessions left in the Test, Sri Lanka saw through the first comfortably, losing just one wicket and leading by 48.
It was the first instance of three or more Bangladesh batsmen scoring centuries in an innings. Mohammad Ashraful fell ten short of a double century, showing remarkable composure
