Tigers reach Kandy

With hopes of squaring the one-day international series, the Bangladesh cricket team reached Kandy yesterday to play the third and final game on March 28.
The must-win encounter is what the players’ focus is on, but in a bid to take their minds off it for a moment, the national team reached Kandy after a picturesque helicopter ride. The journey which allowed the visitors to witness some of the most
beautiful destinations of the island, seemed to have had a positive effect on the players as they were seen stepping off the copter in a rather jolly mood.
“This was probably my third helicopter ride in my life and it was really great. We flew in between mountains and it gave us an opportunity for some good sightseeing,” said Mohammad Ashraful. “We have played at Pallekele before, in the T20 World Cup. So we are aware of the conditions here, hopefully we can do well,” he added.
While Ashraful was in awe of their mode of transport, Habibul Bashar, Bangladesh selector, seemed a little relieved after the journey. “The chopper ride was something new for me, so it caught me a little unaware. It was beautiful no doubt, however, at the same time I was a little scared since we were flying in between hills,” said Bashar.
Having reached their destination, the Tigers’ team management decided to take the day off and did not practise. They’ll practise today along with Shamsur Rahman, the latest entrant to the side. Shamsur, in replace of injured Tamim Iqbal, will be available for the third ODI and the lone T20 International.
Bangladesh will finish their tour with the T20I on March 31 at Pallekele.
